Displacement, Velocity, and Acceleration

Displacement is the vector from start point to end point. Velocity is the rate of change of displacement. Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.

SUVAT Equations

Valid only when acceleration is constant:

  • v = u + at
  • s = ut + ½at²
  • v² = u² + 2as
  • s = ½(u + v)t

Projectile Motion

Horizontal and vertical motion are independent. Horizontal velocity is constant throughout. Vertical acceleration is g = 9.81 m/s² downward.
